FAQS
Do I need a diagnosis to start counselling?
No. Counselling is for anyone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or wants support navigating life’s challenges, whether or not there is a formal diagnosis.
What can I expect in the first session?
In our first session, you can share why you're considering counselling, whether it's a specific issue or just exploring if it's right for you. I'll explain the process, answer any questions, and help you see if we’re a good fit.
What are your qualifications?
I hold a BA in Psychology and Organisational Psychology from the University of Cape Town (UCT), which I completed in 2015. I later went on to complete an Honours degree in Psychology through the University of South Africa (UNISA), graduating in 2023. I am a registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP), having obtained my professional registration in 2025. Alongside my private practice, I work in Corporate Wellness and volunteer as a counsellor with LifeLine and Hope House. This combination of academic training and practical experience allows me to support clients with both compassion and real-world understanding.
How often should I attend sessions?
Clients typically start with either weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Weekly sessions are often most effective, as they provide regular support and can lead to deeper progress. I also recognise that personal circumstances and financial considerations can change. For this reason, bi-weekly or shorter sessions are available for those needing more flexibility. We’ll take time to review how things are going after every six sessions and make any adjustments together to best support your needs.
How do online sessions work?
Sessions will take place online on Google Meets or Whatsapp Video Call (if you prefer). Once the session is booked, a calendar invite will be sent with the meeting link. It will be your responsibilty to join the call. Clients will need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Do you accept medical aid?
No, I am registered with ASCHP and at present, services provided under this registration are not covered by medical aid.
What is your cancellation policy?
Clients are asked to provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
What payment methods do you accept?
EFT - you will be invoiced after every session. Cash is also accepted for Ocean Therapy.
